The positives: Cole is very nice, knows his stuff and the pizza was delicious. I learned a lot about making pizza! Beyond that, I think this event has a lot of room for improvement. It was too many people for the space and took too long to make the pizzas. Maybe we could have all worked on our pizzas at the same time and then took turns wood firing them so we could enjoy them together. In addition, if there were snacks and/or ability to bring in wine, the wait time wouldn't have felt so drawn out. There was also pressure to shop which I wasn't expecting.
Wood-Fired Artisan Pizza Class
Sheri, thanks for sharing that you learned about pizza making and that the pizza was delicious, which was our goal for this particular event. I also appreciate your thoughtful recommendations to improve the event in the future. We will consider all of your suggestions for the next class, especially reducing the class size to 10 max. We have also considered adding an additional helper. The snacks are a good idea and maybe we can make a few pizzas in advance for guests to nibble on at the beginning. We appreciate you joining us for our event and helping us make it even better.

Tour operators were knowledgeable of the area. We were treated to wonderful one of a kind experiences in our small group. The traditional villa accommodations were great, and the food was fresh and wonderful. Loved our traveling buddies too

I would give this trip 10 stars if I could! What a fun weekend with Janine from Together in Tuscany. Everything was perfectly curated to provide delicious food, wine and olive oil during our Taste of Tuscany in Virginia. Janine's hospitality ensured our time at The Marriott Ranch in Hume Virginia was exceptional, with activities well-paced to also allow for down time and socialization in between delicious and informative events! Friday started with a delicious multi-course dinner prepared in the Farmhouse kitchen by a personal chef, along with a pasta-making demo and other informative information on Italian cuisine. Saturday started with a Tiramisu-making class taught by Janine. We each made our own individual Tiramisus and had them at dinner in the evening! Then we learned about and tasted artisan premium extra virgin olive oils from different regions in Italy. We learned about the differences in the oils, and how to properly taste, shop for, store and cook with them. Janine coordinated with the head chef to ensure our lunch and dinner menus featured delicious Italian selections and were paired with delicious wines. Saturday afternoon's highlight was a presentation from an Italian scholar featuring folk tales and songs from the Italian alps. Dinner that night included a wine pairing with each course. What a memorable and fun weekend! I highly recommend this adventure to anyone who wants to experience the tastes, music and fun that Tuscany offers.

It sounds like you also appreciated what the chefs prepared for us as well as the cooking class, olive oil tasting and delicious wine. Thank you for your "10 star" review.

Our girls weekend retreat at Marriott Ranch was absolutely wonderful. The setting is peaceful and beautiful — the perfect place to relax and reconnect. Janine coordinated everything flawlessly. The food was exceptional, including a private chef originally from Italy the first night. We loved learning to make tiramisu and enjoyed an authentic olive oil tasting led by a native Italian — such a unique and special experience. An unforgettable weekend of friendship and amazing food. Janine also has retreats planned to Italy and Portugal, and I highly recommend her tours!

Thank you so much for this beautiful review! It was truly a joy hosting you at the Marriott Ranch and sharing such a special weekend together. I’m so grateful you loved the food, the tiramisu class, and the olive oil tasting. Bringing authentic touches from Italy into our retreats is something very close to my heart. Watching friendships deepen in such a peaceful setting is exactly why I do this work. Thank you for trusting me with your time and experience, and for your kind recommendation. I would love to welcome you again here or on one of our journeys to Tuscany.

Attended their woodfire pizza class at Olio2go. While the host (Chef Cole) seems like a nice guy, this experience was a fail on almost every level. Perhaps with some additional thought they will be able to improve their execution. Positives: 1. PIzza came out of the oven looking nice. Areas for improvement: 1. This was advertised as a pizza class. There was no demonstration of how to make dough. The only discussion about dough was "put 62% of water in whatever flour you use. And use 0 or 00." Nothing about kneading, typical proportions, etc. 2. They oversold the class for the available space and seating. 3. The class was scheduled to begin at 6pm. We arrived at 5:50pm and the class had already begun and no seats were left (keep in mind that everyone had pre-registered). A guest who arrived at 5:55pm was noticeably concerned that she was late and asked several people what she had missed. 4. They had 2 pizza ovens for the 14 or 16 people who were there. There was one instructor. Because the instructor both had to make the pizzas with the attendees as well as cook the pizzas, that meant that the ovens were dead when he was putting toppings on pizza or the pizza-making station was dead when he was at the oven. The result was that it took over 90 minutes (from the end of the "class" portion, which was only 30 minutes) to cook the pizzas. By the time we decided to leave at 8:15pm, there were still 3 people who'd had no food. 5. They decided the order of cooking by raffle, which prohibited people who were a group from eating together. 6. As noted above, the pizzas (for those who got them) looked great when they came out of the oven. However, I didn't hear a single person talk about the taste, just the appearance. I was wondering why (because I was one of those who didn't get to eat and gave up after 90 minutes of standing around doing nothing), but I found out when we left. My wife' s pizza was so overwhelmed by the taste of burned wood that she couldn't eat it and took it home to throw out. An hour later, she is still talking about the firewood taste in her month (and not in a good way). Perhaps the chef knows what he's doing, perhaps not. It was hard to tell. But I have to wonder about the choice to have only 2 ovens and 1 instructor for a class that size, as well as the choice of oven (or wood, or both) that would create a woodfired crust that tasted more like a house fire than a pizza.
